“It’s not that simple. . .”
“It’s not that simple.” Nikkicreamcheese (my K-9) said, as we walked out the door. “You’re going to have a lot of questions—it’s just what the mind human does.”
“Ok. Well, try me,” I responded. We were still talking about fear.
“Alright, here goes…along with paws-ing (taking an important daydream break), the only way to eliminate fear, is to pay attention to it—AND I DON’T MEAN, GET INTO IT, as if you were wearing it. I mean WATCH IT, pay attention to it. Because you CAN; like you can watch your foot.” She looked right at me and, she was right. I COULD WATCH my fearful thoughts, like I could watch my foot! “But why ever would I want to do THAT?! Watching fearful thoughts sounds so awful!” I replied. She answered calmly smiling and aware, that the first question had arrived. “Thoughts control you, awareness (of them) controls the thoughts. That’s the simplest way I can put it, yet there’s more than just that . . . ”
“Where the heck did this crazy-ass dog come from?” I thought.
After several moments of consideration, I actually got what she meant, and gave her a treat.
“Hmm . . . I see . . .” I tried to mirror-back . . . “What I’m aware of within, IS the experience I’m IN, and once I know the experience I’m IN, such as fearful thoughts—considering something different WILL happen . . . I can go straight to the divine end of the spectrum if preferred—Yes?!”
She was definitely smiling when she replied, “Oooo, not bad for a human . . . And are you aware of that train-of-thought you just spoke, and how it evolved toward good?”
Then it simply hit me . . . awareness rules . . .
